I had the taste of a good hamburger steak and when I saw this recipe I thought for sure it’s super good. However, I hadn’t read all the way through. It’s 4:30 a.m., I think I’m going to start my supper and then while reading I realize that it’s a recipe for the slow cooker, Oops. I change it, I simply cooked my meat patties as indicated in the recipe, I put them aside and I made the sauce, I put my patties in the sauce with the small onions and I let it simmer for 30 to 45 minutes and everything was perfect.

INGREDIENTS

  •  1 pound of extra-lean ground beef
  •  3 big strong Italian sausages
  •  2 onions
  •  1/4 bottle red wine
  •  1/2 cup white flour
  •  1 1/2 cups water
  •  4 teaspoons concentrated liquid beef broth
  •  1 tablespoon ground pepper
  •  2 tablespoons olive oil
  •  2 tablespoons butter
  •  1 sprig rosemary
  •  salt

PREPARATION

STEP 1

Brown the flour in a non-stick pan. Set aside.

STEP 2

Mix the sausages and the minced meat. Form 4 patties.

STEP 3

Sauce: slice an onion and cook in oil and butter in a saucepan. Add the wine and reduce it by half. Add the rosemary, concentrated stock, and water. Add pepper. Continue to cook by adding the browned flour until the desired consistency is obtained (the browned flour helps to color the sauce).

STEP 4

Cut the other onion into rings. Cook the meatballs by adding the onion 5-6 minutes before the end. Serve the meatballs with the onions and sauce on top.
