INGREDIENTS

  • 1/2 boneless smoked ham
  • 1 cup Honey
  • 1/2 Cup Butter
  • 1/2 cup of Brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp Extra virgin olive oil

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. The first thing we have to do is to cover with aluminum foil the deep tray where the ham will go so that the honey does not give us problems when it sticks.
  2. Now we are going to cook starting with the sauce. In a pot with a teaspoon of olive oil, heat half a cup of butter over medium heat. Stir with a spatula until it melts and forms a liquid. This will be the sauce.
  3. In the sauce, we add about 100 grams of brown sugar and a cup of honey. Stir and when everything is well unified, let it heat over low heat while we prepare the rest of the recipe.
  4. We cut the ham into thin strips whose cut does not reach the end. Let me explain. You must make thin portions on the piece so that the sauce and the cooking in the oven are impregnated everywhere, but it must not lose the unique shape of the ham. In any case, many butcher’s shops already do this for you beforehand. We place the ham on the tray that we had covered with aluminum foil.
  5. Now comes the part for the more artistic ones. With a brush, we “paint” all the ham with the sauce we had previously made. Make sure that no hole is left unpainted. To do this we go over it several times. Note: we must save the sauce for later steps.
  6. Cover the ham with more aluminum foil so that it does not burn too much in the oven and comes out perfect.
  7. Bake at a little less than 200º for approximately 2 hours. Depending on the weight of the ham, calculate that for each kilo you should cook for half an hour. Also, every 20 or 25 minutes, we must remove it from the oven and give it a new pass with the honey sauce.
  8. In the last 10 minutes of baking, you should put your oven in grill mode to perfectly brown the surface of the ham.
  9. And that’s it! Take our ham out of the oven and serve it on the plate with the remaining honey sauce.
