  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2/3 cup white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

STEP 1 :

Make sure to preheat your oven to 375 degrees F (175 degrees C) and grease an 8-inch square pan.

STEP 2 :

Then pick a large skillet and melt in the butter. Next, remove from heat and stir in sugar and add quickly eggs and beat until well blended. Once done, combine buttermilk with baking soda and stir into mixture in pan. Now, you may want to stir in cornmeal, flour, and salt until well blended and few lumps remain.

STEP 3 :

Finally, pour batter into the prepared pan and bake until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, about 30 to 40 minutes.
