Fanciful Raspberry Ribbons (Swedish ribbon cookies)

• 1 cup butter, softened
• 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
• 1/2 cup sugar
• 1 teaspoon vanilla
• 1/4 teaspoon salt
• 1 egg, slightly beaten
• Raspberry jam or jelly
• 1 recipe Powdered Sugar Glaze (see recipe below)
• 3/4 cup sifted powdered sugar
• 1/4 teaspoon almond flavoring
• 3 – 4 teaspoons milk

Directions

Preheat oven to 375°. In a mixing bowl, beat the butter with an electric mixer on medium to high speed for 30 seconds. Add about half of the flour, the sugar, egg, vanilla and salt. Beat until thoroughly combined.
